Crosby’s Blessing

Filed in Baptism — May 29, 2022

I enjoyed working with Matt, Jamie, and Crosby this past Sunday. It was Crosby’s 2nd birthday. His parents wanted to bring both families together after being separated for so long because of Covid to celebrate this little guy’s birthday and do a baby blessing for him. I loved that we could personalize it with special touches, like Jamie doing a reading she had found she loved and Matt playing the singing bowl. They chose all their siblings as Crosby’s godparents, and it was an honor to be there to celebrate with them.

What does Koru mean?

KORU (kor-roo) is the Maori word for “loop.” For the indigenous people of New Zealand, the koru spiral represents a fern frond beginning to unfurl. The koru symbol embodies new beginnings, a new phase of life, renewal, hope for the future, positive change, personal growth, working in harmony, bringing people together, and being mindful of the good things in life.

At Koru Ceremony, we strive to personify these ideals and celebrate a new beginning through ceremony and ritual.
