Oh Sweet Lorraine

Filed in Wedding — August 26, 2013

In May of this year 96-year-old Fred Stobaugh of Bartonville, Illinois lost his wife of 72 years, Lorraine. To cope with her loss, Stobaugh wrote a song called ‘Sweet Lorraine’ and entered it into Green Shoe Studio’s singer-songwriter contest, with hopes that the song would be produced into a professional track. Green Shoe Studio was so moved by Stobaugh’s story that they created a short documentary entitled, A Letter From Fred, ‘a poignant and beautiful story of life, love, music, and the special place where all three come together’. ‘Oh Sweet Lorraine’ single is currently available on iTunes and Google Play.

What does Koru mean?

KORU (kor-roo) is the Maori word for “loop.” For the indigenous people of New Zealand, the koru spiral represents a fern frond beginning to unfurl. The koru symbol embodies new beginnings, a new phase of life, renewal, hope for the future, positive change, personal growth, working in harmony, bringing people together, and being mindful of the good things in life.

At Koru Ceremony, we strive to personify these ideals and celebrate a new beginning through ceremony and ritual.
