Kristen and John

Filed in Wedding — May 1, 2019

It is rare for Koru Ceremony to have a mid-week wedding, but today was absolutely lovely! John and Kristen were such a delightful couple to marry this afternoon. It was a very small and intimate wedding at Gates of Heaven and there were only the three of us, along with the two photographers, Christine and Justin, from Natural Intuition Photography, who also served as the witnesses for the marriage license. Small microweddings are often some of my favorite ceremonies to officiate.

What does Koru mean?

KORU (kor-roo) is the Maori word for “loop.” For the indigenous people of New Zealand, the koru spiral represents a fern frond beginning to unfurl. The koru symbol embodies new beginnings, a new phase of life, renewal, hope for the future, positive change, personal growth, working in harmony, bringing people together, and being mindful of the good things in life.

At Koru Ceremony, we strive to personify these ideals and celebrate a new beginning through ceremony and ritual.
