Jes and Mark Aldo Leopold Wedding

Check out Karly Jo Photography’s blog on Jes and Mark’s DIY wedding at Aldo Leopold Nature Center in Black Earth, WI.  I couldn’t have done a better job myself describing this wedding and this down to earth couple:

“What an amazing wedding location for this pastel, DIY wedding. The Aldo Leopold Center in Black Earth, Wisconsin offers a stunning set of rustic cabins snuggled into a hillside with a beautiful meadow perfect for the ceremony arbor created by Jessica’s Father. Jessica and Mark are the kind of couple who are so relaxed and natural together. They had a beautiful vision to keep their wedding day personal and easy… my kind of people!

Jes along with her family, created a DIY wedding that was a pleasure to photograph. Her dress was custom made by her Mother the perfect shade of gray. She created all of the floral arrangements and decor… her family even made a table full of the most delicious pie. It felt personal and intimate each moment of the day. One of the unique highlights from the evening had to be the fun game of ‘wolves vs. villagers’. My husband and I are HUGE board game fanatics so finding another group of kindred spirits at a wedding was perfection! A truly heartfelt celebration.”

What does Koru mean?

KORU (kor-roo) is the Maori word for “loop.” For the indigenous people of New Zealand, the koru spiral represents a fern frond beginning to unfurl. The koru symbol embodies new beginnings, a new phase of life, renewal, hope for the future, positive change, personal growth, working in harmony, bringing people together, and being mindful of the good things in life.

At Koru Ceremony, we strive to personify these ideals and celebrate a new beginning through ceremony and ritual.
